Thai hostages still waiting to get back home

It is an indefinite period, before the Thai hostages can say 'Chook de India' ("Bye Bye India"), according to the police. A total number of 44 hostages (fishermen) have been confined below a temple shade, in front of ellow Gate Police station, 20 of whom have been there for the last 16 days. The hostages being prime witnesses are kept back, in order to record their statements before they could be sent back.

Apart from identifying these hostages which was made easy by a couple of them who could speak broken English, the officials are having a tough time interrogating the Somalian pirates, as they have not got an ' official interpreter' to interrogate them.

Out of the 43 Somalian pirates, three pirates who were captured on February 5, are reportedly under police custody, while the rest 40 remain in judicial custody.
