Baisakhi SMS float around as communities celebrate new year today

India is known for its diverse culture, tradition, religious rituals, and festivals and different communities celebrate their festivals in different manner. Baisakhi which is the prime festival of Sikhs is no different than any other festivals of India as SMSs, Messages and wishes are floating around to convey the wishes to the loved ones.


Communities like Sikh, Bengali, Malayali and Oriya are set to celebrate the ‘New Year festivity’ on Wednesday. Several cultures will be seen celebrating this festival. Sikh community will celebrate ‘Baisakhi’ and others will celebrate Bihu, Vishu kkani, Poela Vaishakh and Pona Sankranti.

These festivals will be celebrated for two days. People are ready to welcome the New Year with enthusiasm.

The Malayali community will worship Goddess Vishukkani at Ayyapa Temple in Ujjain in the morning while Assamese will worship cattle on this day and prepare special dish in their houses.

According to Cultural Secretary of the Bengali community Ambuj Datta, Kali pujan will be performed at Bengali club and community traders will purchase new account books on this occasion.
