Yellow Gate cops get data of MV Nordlake
ellow gate police have received the Ship Voyage Data Recorder ( SVDR) of MV Nordlake that collided with INS Vindhyagiri, which will provide them with the data from various sensors on board the vessel.
In the process of aggregating data records like Automatic Identification System ( AIS) and SVDR from the ships and VTMS from the ports, the police have managed to get the S- VDR from the MV Nordlake, on Monday.
However, to get the SVDR from the INS Vindhaygiri, they may have to wait for at least another couple of weeks, as it is the time required to re- float the vessel again, according to a navy official.
" The German technical experts have handed over a copy of the SVDR of MV Nordlake to us. However, now we require software that will decode the copy. We have ordered the software and we shall get it within a few days time." said, Deputy Commissioner of Police ( Port zone) Quaiser Khalid.
" Captain of MV Nordlake, Petaros Valneo, a native of Croatia who along with his crew is allegedly held responsible for the collision, claimed innocence before our officials. They have been brought to Mumbai for further questioning." he added. SVDR provides the data from various sensors on board the vessel and the last 12 hours of stored data in the protected unit can be recovered and replayed by the police for the collision investigation. When asked about a cross complaint by the owners of MV Nordlake, Khalid, said, " No authorities of the MV Nordlake has approached us with an complaint yet." INS Vindhyagiri, a warship, arguably sank in the Mumbai Harbour after a collision.
